YOUR FIRST OFFICE VISIT, WHAT TO EXPECT

To insure your first visit with us is a pleasant one, here are the procedures you can expect during the first visit.

*PAPERWORK: Completing the questionnaire will help us to get to know you. This information will be used to formulate your care program

*CONSULTATION: You’ll meet the Doctor, who will review your health history and determine if yours is a chiropractic case. You will be advised of the cost of any office procedures and given a copy of our written financial policies.

*EXAMINATION: Standard physical, orthopedic, neurological and chiropractic tests will be performed to determine the cause(s) of your problem.

*DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING: Necessary views may be taken to visualize the location of any spinal problems, reveal any pathologies, and make your chiropractic care more precise.

*CORRELATION: Before proper care can be rendered the doctor will study your examination findings. A video to acquaint you with chiropractic will be shown.

*ADJUNCTIVE PROCEDURES: The doctor may suggest the application of ice, heat or the use of some other procedure to help reduce inflammation and make you more comfortable.

*FUTURE VISITS: Your first visit is complete. Plan to spend about 45 minutes on your next visit to receive the doctor’s report of findings. Also, you’ll see your x-rays, review the doctor’s findings, and get his specific care recommendations and future costs. Then, typical visits will usually last only about 15 minutes.

YOUR PHYSICAL EXAMINATION

After reviewing your history and discussing your specific problem, a thorough orthopedic, neurological, and chiropractic examination is performed. X-rays may be taken to uncover structural and functional problems associated with the spinal column. These examinations help identify areas of spinal malfunction and resulting nervous system deficit. After this a specific treatment program can be designed specifically for the patient.

DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING (X-RAYS)

X-rays are a form of energy related to radio waves and sunshine. The shadow cast onto special film reveals internal structures of the body. These pictures can reveal fractures, bone diseases and joint degeneration. They can later serve as documentation of your progress.

Special care is taken to reduce X-ray exposure. This is done by using ultra-sensitive films and shielding sensitive body parts. It is beneficial to have an exact visual record of your spine in a weight-bearing position.

Chiropractic patients are shown these images at the report of findings. X-rays and other types of imaging provide information for both you and your chiropractor.

WHAT IS SEMG?

Surface Electromyography is the measurement of muscle tension. The greater the bar strength, the higher the amount of muscle tension.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

SEMG is essentially a very sensitive version of the EKG used to measure your heart. When there is a problem with your spine, or "subluxation", the muscles respond to this nerve interference by tensing and bracing to compensate for the problem. In general, the healthier spine shows more balanced muscle tension. Low readings can also be bad. Muscles in spasm sometimes "shut down", as they become fatigued. Expect muscle activity to increase over several weeks of adjustments, as the muscles begin firing more normally.

HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO CHIROPRACTIC?

Vertebral Subluxations reduce your body's ability to maintain optimal health. When vertebral subluxations are present, the nervous system is less able to function properly resulting in a less than optimal state of health. The Chiropractors job is to utilize tools like the MyoVision to detect and correct subluxations, and help optimize your health.

WHAT IS THERMAGRAPHY?

Temperature should be relatively even when comparing left and right sides of the spine. If there are large differences in temperature, it means blood is flowing more to one side over the other, indicating possible nerve interference.

IS IT PAINFUL? CAN IT BE DONE ON PREGNANT WOMEN AND CHILDREN?

The SEMG and Thermoglide units simply are measurements devices. They do not emit radiation, and are safe and painless for everyone.

IS CHIROPRACTIC CARE SAFE?

In the words of the New Zealand government’s inquiry, chiropractic care is “remarkably safe.”

Chiropractic has an excellent safety record. It is the result of a conservative approach to health that avoids invasive procedures or addictive drugs.

A thorough case history and examination help reveal areas of the spine that may be causing nervous system malfunction. This information will be used to determine the best course of care for each patient.

Chiropractic care is a natural approach to better health that is proven safe and effective.

CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS

A chiropractic adjustment is the use of a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is fixated, “locked up”, or not moving properly. Adjustments help return the bones to a more normal position or motion, relieving pain and ill health. Adjustments help normalize spinal function and avoid bone and soft tissue degeneration. When nervous system function improves in this way, the body can begin the natural healing.

HOW LONG WILL I NEED CHIROPRACTIC CARE?

Spinal problems, neglected since early childhood, may require ongoing supportive care for optimum spinal function. These longstanding problems are often associated with muscle weakness, soft tissue damage, and degenerative changes in the spine.

Most patients find that periodic chiropractic checkups help keep them in tip-top shape. Those who are active, have stressful jobs, or want to be their very best, find that a schedule of preventive visits is helpful in the maintenance of good health.

Some patients seek chiropractic care only when their ache or pain becomes unbearable. While this style of “crisis management” is usually more costly and time consuming, our office stands ready to help all patients, regardless of their health goals.

HOW LONG YOU DECIDE TO BENEFIT FROM CHIROPRACTIC CARE IS ALWAYS UP TO YOU.

“I started seeing Dr. Majer about eight months ago. I initially went for my neck and back pain. On my first few visits I learned what chiropractic is all about. Thinking of all the health benefits, I was excited. Knowing that all my adjustments we’re not only relieving my neck and back pain, but helping my body heal itself.

I have had severe menstrual cramps for years. Missing school and work. Trying to find relief, I took many over the counter medications. Nothing worked. I went to the doctor and go a prescription it helped. I have been taking it for 20 some years. During this time I have had an ovary removed and I was told I have endometriosis. The cramps we’re still there every month. Some months I would hold off on the Medication hoping that the cramps would get better with age, they didn’t.

After seeing Dr. Majer for six months, I was at work busy and didn’t go for my medication right away. The cramps came but I could handle them. I ate so that I could take my medication, so my stomach wouldn’t get upset. I never had to take it. I couldn’t believe it!!!!

The next day I felt OK. I was still waiting for the real cramps to come, wondering what I did or didn’t do. The next month, same thing, mild cramps. The only thing I could think of was that me seeing Dr. Majer had something to do with my relief. I never dreamed that the adjustments would help with my cramps that much. My neck and back are much much better and now I know the healing has gone way beyond the physical pain.

The energy and the attitude of everyone in the office is Great. My expectations have been met and Far Far exceeded. I feel VERY fortunate.”

Dear Majer Chiropractic Wellness Center:

When my daughter Daniela was diagnosed with scoliosis one year ago, I felt that the treatment options currently being offered by the medical doctors were not satisfactory. After researching many other methods, I felt that chiropractic would be the best, long term option for Daniela.

This is when I contacted Dr. Majer. From the very beginning I was impressed with Dr. Majer and his staff. Dr. Majer answered every question and concern that I had and Daniela began her care at Majer Chiropractic. Her care plan consisted of three visits each week for many months. The most recent set of x-rays taken of Daniela’s spine showed that the progression of the scoliosis has not only stopped, the curvature is improving!

What words do I feel best describe the staff at Majer Chiropractic?

The words that immediately come to mind are: high standards, friendly atmosphere, compassion, and good sense of humor.

I am convinced that the friendly atmosphere at the office helps to reduce daily stress that is felt by many patients. This friendly atmosphere is so “infectious” that many good friendships have developed among many patients.

I am so grateful to Dr. Majer and his staff for the wonderful care they have given Daniela. With your help, Daniela has been spared from having to wear a brace and as well from a potentially very dangerous surgery.

Sincerely.

Emily

Dear, dear, dear, Dr. Majer,

I feel so so much better this morning, I am ready to take the world on. I speak of your miracle hands to my friends here at work. They look at me and tell me how "neat". They even see the difference in me. I move better, my attitude is better, and I'm able to work better because of my adjustment.

So my question to them is, "why don't you go". Whatever stops them, I can't change, but I know how much better I feel and how much less I go to my family doctor. I'm the smart one because I don't just talk the walk, I do it. You can't change people's minds, but you sure have changed mine.

Thank you so much for caring. You, Linda, and Angela have become so much a part of my family. I hope through my testimonies, God will bless you with more patients and increase your income as well.

Much Aloha,

Irene

Dear Majer Chiropractic:

I have been suffering with asthma for most of my life, almost 30 years. I experience asthma attacks at least twice each month. I have come to accept it because doctors have consistently told me that I simply have to learn to live with it. When I would get an attack, I would take the necessary medications to feel better, but it was only temporary, until the next time. There seemed to be no hope for a full recovery and a normal life for me.

As a child, this was devastating. I couldn’t take part in many school activities because I was fearful of the consequences. I was embarrassed to have to use my inhaler in front of all of my friends. It became a real inconvenience in my life; however I got used to it as I grew older.

Four months ago I experienced a neck injury and my friend Amy referred me to her chiropractor, Dr. Majer. I was a little hesitant to go because I had never been to a chiropractor before and I knew nothing about chiropractic. The pain was so severe that I decided to go so that I could feel better. I had lots of questions and I wasn’t really sure how chiropractic could help.

On my first visit, Dr. Majer made me feel so comfortable and welcome in the office. All of my questions were answered. By the time my exam was complete, I knew I was in the right place.

What really changed my life however was that Dr. Majer told me that the injured nerves that are causing my neck pain also control my breathing abilities. He also explained that when my spine and nerves were healthy again, my breathing may improve as well.

Needless to say, I have been getting adjustments three times each week for the past three months and I have not had an asthma attack since. Oh, my neck pain is better too.

I can’t believe that I suffered needlessly for 30 years and none of my doctors recommended I see a chiropractor. Dr. Majer has truly made a difference in my life and now I can share chiropractic with everyone I know. I am truly grateful!

Thank You!

D. Pertinski
